New Course Offerings

Dear Kuali Financial Systems User:

The Office of Budget and Planning will begin offering two new courses for KFS users beginning January 2017, Transactional eDocs and Transfer of Funds and Budget Adjustments How they impact the budget. Additionally, in preparation for the FY18 University budget process, two Budget Construction courses will be offered, one refresher course, Budget Construction Refresher designed for users who completed last year’s training and a course for new Budget Construction users, Budget Construction Training. Budget Construction courses will begin in late January 2017. As in prior years, open labs will be offered throughout the budget process, with a schedule to follow shortly.

General KFS User Training

eDocs: Transfer of Funds and Budget Adjustments – How they impact the budget process

The course covers the impact Transfer of Funds and Budget Adjustment eDocs have on the budgeting process.  Incudes a refresher on the changes that were made related to transfers and budget adjustment that were effective in FY17. The course will discuss hypothetical situations and the appropriate transfer and budget adjustment object codes to use.

This is an instructional class (hands-on lab). Multiple courses offered beginning January 17th.

Prerequisite: KFS - Introduction to KFS

 

eDocs: Transactional eDocs

Provides an overview of typical day-to-day transactional eDocs.  These eDocs include: Transfer of Funds (TF), Budget Adjustments (BA), Single Sided Budget Adjustments (SSBA), Internal Billings (IB), Distribution of Income/Expenses (DI), Salary Expense Transfers (ST), General Error Correction (GEC), and Intra-Account Adjustments (IAA).  This course will explore each eDoc, their appropriate uses and a guide to help identify which eDoc to use for various situations.

This is an instructional class (hands-on lab). Multiple courses offered beginning March 1st.

Prerequisite: KFS - Introduction to KFS

 

Budget Construction Courses

Budget Construction Refresher

For existing Budget Construction users who completed the full Budget Construction training last year, this course will provide a refresher to the Budget Construction module. In addition, the course will discuss any changes made to Budget Construction, as well as a review of tips and suggestions to help simplify the budgeting processes.  There will be a short Power Point presentation followed by hands on practice in a test system.

This is an instructional class (hands-on lab). Multiple courses offered beginning February 14th.

Prerequisite: Recommended for employees who completed last year’s Budget Construction training.

 

Budget Construction Training

Attendees will gain a functional understanding of how to enter fiscal year budgets into Budget Construction. This hands-on course will allow attendees to work within the actual module. In addition, there will be an overview of the University’s Budgeting Process, including 2-Ledger (University Supported Accounts) and Non-2-Ledger Accounts.

This is an instructional class (hands-on lab). Multiple courses offered beginning February 16th.
